5 reasons Arsene Wenger should use Football Manager for all transfers

5 reasons Arsene Wenger should use Football Manager for all transfers 4.50/5 (90.00%) 2 votes

As an Arsenal fan (sorry Dad, I had to come out in the end) I have never been more looking forward to a transfer window than this year but no doubt in 4 months time when the window is shut again I will be found in some corner sobbing “why Wenger? Whyyyyyy?”.

Over the last few years I have developed a reason why Arsene doesn’t sign most of the players that are linked to the club, analysed those that have came and those that haven’t and for me the answer is obvious.

It isn’t because Arsenal don’t have the money, it isn’t because the gaffer is too ‘scared’ to spend it.

The real reason is this: Arsene likes to find gems (I know that is obvious but this is the good bit) that NOONE else has found, call it an ego thing, he wants to find players from nowhere that noone else has been linked with because then he continues his reputation of discovering nobody’s and turning them in to something.

Nobody’s is the wrong word, but list the last few signings and tell me if I am wrong:

Nacho (cheese) Monreal?

Santi Carzorla?

Lukazs Podolski?

See! Not one of them was even spoken of in the gossip columns alongside any other club, the list goes on…Per Mertesaker, even going back to Samir Nasri, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Henry.

Now you probably think i’m an idiot for having this opinion but think of it the other way around, think of all the players that Arsenal looked like dead cert’s to be signing and all of a sudden, when another club gets involved it all goes dead.

Loic Remy, Yann M’villa even Gareth Bale, David Silva and Eden Hazard were linked to Arsenal before any other club and no doubt we won’t snap up the likes of James Ward Prowse and Luke Shaw who have been on Arsene’s radar for a while, now Chelsea have come sniffing there is no chance.

Anyway, I have reached realisation now and I know that Wenger does not like to compete for a player, so my recommendation to him is to use Football Manager for scouting, save some dollar and get some real gems signed up on the books.

There are 5 pretty good reasons why he should do just that:

Wenger lovers kids

There is no database in this world (maybe Jimmy S’s) that contains more kids that FM, its a goldmine for picking up talent and all you have to do is turn off player attribute masking and click technique to the top, motivation to the bottom and you have a perfect Arsenal signing.

Its easy to sign someone you really want

Say your Arsene Wenger on FM and you really want Eden Hazard but Chelsea won’t accept a bid, he want’s to come but you can’t get through the door, there is no other player around that suits the position, you just NEED Hazard, he is your only option, what do you do?

OK, so in the real world Arsene wouldn’t dream of signing a top quality, world class, prolific player but on FM it could be reality after a couple of seasons.

So for one moment lets imagine Wenger was like “Hey Roman, here is my twin brother ‘Player One’, he is a great manager and you should have him” and Roman is like “Whoah, he is just like you but has a different name, I will take him”.  A day later Hazard is yours for 20k and Nicklas Bendtner seals his dream move for a new British record fee, problem solved.

There are more leagues in the world than France

Arsene loves snapping up a good frog and I have no doubt that some new player that no one has ever heard of will come through the doors of the Emirates this summer but if he were to use FM he could look through places like Mexico where Carlos Fierro is knocking about or Germany for Shurle, the world is your oyster Arsene. Though fingers crossed he signs a French youngster labelled as the next Chamakh.

Its easy to sell Bendtner on FM

I have no idea why Bendtner exists, he’s a good quality League 1 player at best and if Wenger were to start using FM to control his transfers all the Italian clubs would pay good money for the not so great Dane.

This jibe isn’t limited to the Dane though, Marouane, Park and Abou can all follow in his footsteps freeing up some £200,000 a week in wage budget, for that we could sign Andrei Arshavin or someone else that won’t win us the Champions League.

He could make some great signings within ‘Arsenal budgets’  like…

If Arsene was making his transfers on Football Manager he could actually sign some decent players, make the team a world beater and still have some lose change to pay Abou Diaby £30k a week for a few years because he won’t leave without it.

I mean why aren’t the likes of Will Hughes, Radja Nanjoiigan (whatever), IIkay Gundogan, Moritz Leitner, Christian Eriksen, Antoine Griezmann, Iker Munian, Julian Draxler, Son Heung-Min and Rodrigo being linked to moves to Arsenal, these are the hottest property in Europe and would fit in perfectly at our beloved club.

So Arsene, if you’re reading this I will be putting a nice affiliate link about here when Footy Manager 14 comes out so please click it and buy the game, it will make you and I very happy and maybe we, as Arsenal fans can live our life longs dream of seeing Nicklas Bendtner off our books.
